The Real Victory

There have been a number of prayer calls that have inspired me, leading up to today, Election Day 2020. To hear people of faith in collective corporate prayer for a common call — for God’s will to be done and to trust in Him. As I have spoken to several friends, I’ve expressed that I believe the outcome of the election will be dependent upon how awake the country is and how strongly we stand on the side of truth and justice. I’ve further expressed concern for those that have allowed untruths and injustices to take a driver’s seat, while decency and morality are pushed further and further to the back seat, many in an attempt to maintain their position of power and holding onto it at the expense of their souls. As I sit at the end of a morning prayer at 5:30 am, I still believe that God’s people need to be awakened by the state of a country in disarray, the crying out of the pain and suffering by its people, obvious to the world. I still believe that in an unawakened state of consciousness, more suffering may ensue, and I now add, in order to awaken God’s people and to draw us closer to Him. This is the real victory.

I pray that people continue to go to the polls today and that they are allowed to safely cast their ballots and that all votes are counted fairly. This prayer, for many of us, is not new. We don’t have to check the rear view mirror too long ago to be reminded of the interference designed for our Black votes to go uncounted. The tactics have changed, but the goal remains in tact — to suppress our voices. Voting is our voice. It represents what we believe in, the change that we want, our conscience, and our beliefs. It represents freedom, connection, and the power to stand up and be an American citizen. The disenfranchisement of this fundamental right, for any citizen, is taking away a part of their citizenship. We see this in plain sight, our voices intentionally muted, either by those with the muzzle, or our own complacency of living in the untruth that ‘it doesn’t matter’ — lower level thinking that only rings true for those who believe that they don’t matter.

As God’s people, we must stand in truth and stand up for what is right. Not just for some people, but for all people. If you are against injustice, discrimination, hatred and divisiveness, take a look around and see the state of this country, right now, today. Is this the country that you want? Are you willing to allow bigotry, hatred, disruption and turmoil to replace peace and love? For what reason would a person of faith allow this? Remove the glasses clouded in politics. Remove the glasses of complacency and doubt that obstruct truth. Put on the glasses that allow for 20/20 vision. Vote for the good of humanity and the rising of God’s people on the planet. Be Prayerful. Be Faithful. Be Safe.
